Happy Equal Pay Day Montana–though somehow I don’t think Congressman Dennis Rehberg is celebrating.
Congressman Rehberg opposed the historic Lilly Ledbetter Pay Act of 2009, which allows employees to sue their employers for wage discrimination based on gender. And he’s opposed other measures that protect equal pay, time and time again. (Like in 2007, when Rehberg voted against a bill to protect the victims of wage discrimination, and in 2008 when he voted against a bill to close the loopholes allowing shady employers to get out of being held accountable is wage discrimination cases.)
Even if he doesn’t care about equal pay for us, Congressman Rehberg is working hard to protect his own paycheck. He’s voted himself a pay raise five times and tried to keep paying himself during a government shutdown.
But if you’re woman and you want a fair paycheck, Congressman Rehberg says you’re out of luck. In fact, if you’re a pregnant woman, Congressman Rehberg might flip you off.
